In August of 2024, the board of directors made the heartfelt decision to rename The Ricewood Educational Park to Jacque Freeman Park, in honor of a woman whose dedication to her community spanned more than three decades. Jacque’s commitment to making her neighborhood a better place was truly unmatched. For 34 years, she served on the Ricewood Municipal Utility District Board of Directors, including over 30 years as President. Her involvement didn’t stop there; Jacque also spent 12 years on the Board of Directors for the Westfield HOA and lent her time and energy to numerous other local organizations.

As President of Ricewood MUD, Jacque was instrumental in bringing Ricewood Park to life in 2011, with a vision to create a space that would enhance the neighborhood's beauty and provide a place for residents to gather and enjoy. Her leadership was always driven by a deep, personal dedication to her community—she wasn’t just a leader, but a neighbor who cared deeply about the people around her. Jacque’s legacy is one of service, selflessness, and an unwavering desire to make the world around her better. Her impact on the Ricewood area will be felt for generations to come, and this park is a lasting tribute to her tireless efforts.
